Shiana works with local artisans in remote regions of South East Asia to bring our customers handcrafted jewelry and jewelry elements.

With origins in the mountainous regions of Thailand, we were and still are a family owned and operated company that works closely with the original Karen tribal silversmiths. What was once a rare skill set known only by a few villagers in 1973 became a booming cottage industry that provided Karen Hilltribe Silver to the world.

Our online store opened in 1999 and our nameless company was registered as Shiana LLC. The name ‘Shiana’ came from the imagination of two sisters Pam Thien and Angie Thien — who still own and operate the business.

The concept of ‘creating happiness’ became the basis of our work, and we sought to provide items that were guaranteed to come from craftsmen and artisans who worked not only for fair pay, but also for joy. In recent years Shiana expanded to include the descendants of Thailand’s Royal Goldsmiths from the Sukhothai era and other like-minded artisans who share our principles.

We believe these good thoughts are passed through our jewelry and make them truly unique.

Ordering on Shiana.com is simple. Once you have found the item you want, click on the “ADD TO CART” button to place it in your Shopping Cart. From here, you may calculate shipping, or continue shopping. When you are ready to place your order, follow the directions through the checkout. We accept all major credit cards securely, as well as online payments from Paypal.

Your order will not be placed until the very end of the checkout process when you will be asked for your payment information.

SHIPPING POLICY
SHIANA ships to the United States, Europe, and world-wide via DHL Global Mail (tracking information available through local mail services such as USPS), and FedEx for express mail. Restrictions may apply, for example, FedEx does not currently ship to certain countries. Please feel free to contact us for solutions.

SHIPPING SCHEDULE
Items are packaged and processed the next available business day then are picked up by postal couriers. Scheduled planes with our packages leave the airport twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays.

SHIPPING METHODS
Items are shipped via Global Mail. The transit time is usually 30 – 45 days, but please allow up to 60 days for delivery. Some packages may take over 60 days, especially if ordered during the holiday season (October – January) or if items are held at customs for inspection.

Express items can be shipped via FedEx with a transit time of 5 – 9 business days. Insurance is optional for both shipping methods.

Paypal Buyers: Please check your address! We always ship to the paypal reported address unless otherwise noted.

CUSTOMS & TARIFF
The buyer is responsible for customs charges and taxation in your respectable countries. Customs will be charged at delivery by FedEx. We are able to conform to your requests regarding customs declaration and other requirements.

PACKAGING
All our products are packaged with care in specially designed packaging made to withstand international shipping. Our packaging is internationally acceptable and are also completely reusable.

P.O. BOXES
Please note that to qualify for the Google Trusted Store Program for customers, P.O. Box addresses are not supported. That said, Standard Mail items can be sent to P.O. Boxes. Please understand that items lost or damaged while at the P.O. Box are not covered by our insurance policy.

FedEx Express Shipping will require a residential or business, non-P.O. Box address.

TRACKING NUMBERS
Most tracking numbers are available for view as soon as they are updated. However, please allow 3-5 business days for Standard Shipping tracking numbers to show progress. FedEx tracking numbers or Air Way Bill numbers may be viewed in 1-2 business days.

We want you to be completely satisfied with your order. If for any reason you are not satisfied, we will gladly accept your item’s return. Shiana has a 10-day item inspection period, and we can not accept returns after 10 days of receipt.

Items must be received in the original sealed plastic bag with item numbers for identification. Used merchandise cannot be returned unless defective.We do not incur any additional costs on your part for restocking or replacing items. All shipping fees are exclusive of this agreement.

To process a return, please contact customer service. Full refunds, exchanges or store credit may be given depending on the case of the return and/or current stock.

NO RETURNS CONDITIONS
The above return policy does not cover the following types of orders:

• Commerce Accounts: Wholesale discounts and Custom items purchases are final.
• FedEx Upgrade: Orders that receive a FedEx upgrade are considered to have received a discount and are not covered in the return policy
• Coupon Discounts: All items purchased using coupon discounts are final.
• General Discounts: High-volume purchases that receive wholesale discounts are all considered a ‘wholesale’ purchase and are excluded from the return policy. Sales of such orders are final

Shiana Fine Silver
Fine Silver is composed of .999 (100%) pure silver. As silver is the earth’s whitest metal, upon seeing fine silver you will first notice that the undertones of the metal is white instead of grayish as seen with other silver/metal mixtures. Fine silver also has a soft and complex texture. It is more malleable than sterling silver, and will not tarnish as quickly. Shiana’s Fine Silver is hand crafted by Karen Hill Tribe artisans in small batches.

Sterling Silver
Sterling Silver is .925 (92.5%) silver. Shiana’s Sterling Silver is cut with 7.5% pure copper and no other base metals. The copper provides strength, making the pieces more rigid.

Shiana Fine Silver is Thai Karen Hill Tribe Silver produced by our own artisans. Hill Tribe Silver purchased through Shiana is made with .999 (100%) fine silver and is 100% handmade.

Please note that not all hill tribes use 100% fine silver to create their jewelry. Some hill tribe silver is mixed with tin and other metals to produce products with as little as 45% silver.

Caring for Fine Silver
Silver is a precious metal used by humans for centuries. However, the first rule of silver is that it tarnishes with prolonged exposure to oxygen. Tarnish may quicken if the silver is near salt water or products containing sulfur.

After wearing silver we recommend washing the piece by hand in warm water with lemon juice or a mild detergent. If pieces are more tarnished, use Shiana’s Silver and Vermeil Polishing cloth to bring the item back to a high shine.

Properly storing silver depends on the piece of jewelry. Be sure to protect your items from scratches by wrapping the silver in a soft cloth. Storing the items in air tight containers will prevent tarnish from forming.

Shiana Black Silver is made only of .999 Shiana Fine Silver or .925 Sterling Silver. Known as the whitest metal, silver has an amazing property to become pure black through a natural oxidization process. Black silver is gorgeous against gold, pink gold, and white silver.

Shiana Black Silver has a genuinely black overtone with a hint of deep gray and sometimes an illusion of blue in daylight. They are shiny but not glossy and the luster is between hand-shine and sanded metal.

Caring for Shiana Black Silver
The coating of Shiana Black Silver may wear down over time. However, as we use no other metals between this coating and the silver underneath, all you have to do to is leave the item out in open air for several days. The black oxidization will return.

Take care to protect your Black Silver from impact against hard surfaces and avoid contact with abrasive surfaces. We recommend you store it away from other silver products.

Shiana Fine Silver produced by our artisans usually go through an antique finishing process. This causes the silver items to darken. The silver is then polished leaving the black coloring only in the grooves of the item, allowing tiny details and patterns to stand out. White Silver is a silver item that has not gone through the antiquing process before final polishing, leaving a matte pure white item.

Many of the larger pendants come in both finishes, and information can be found either in the product’s title or description. If you are unsure of a product’s finishing process, please contact customer service.

Caring for White Silver

Our precious Shiana’s Vermeil Gold invokes the breathtaking color of solid gold. The items appear to be of a higher karat than what one would normally find in contemporary jewelry, and are more reminiscent of the antique pieces prized in Asian cultures.

Shiana’s Vermeil Gold is plated over either our .999 Shiana Fine Silver or .925 Sterling Silver items. Using a nickel-free process, the silver is plated with 1 micron of 18K gold for strength and then followed by 2 microns of 24K Gold. This gives the gold a lasting antique look and feel. The 3 micron (micro meter) coating is guaranteed.

Caring for Vermeil Gold
After wearing your Vermeil Gold item we recommend gently wiping the piece down with a damp, non-abrasive cloth to remove any corrosive acids that the piece may have come in contact with during daily wear.

Shiana Vermeil Gold may show signs of tarnish if left in the open air. To remove tarnish use Shiana’s Silver and Vermeil Polishing cloth to bring the item back to a high shine.

While Shiana Vermeil Gold items are of an extremely high standard, all vermeil products may fade if worn carelessly or scratched deeply. Take care to protect your jewelry from impact against hard surfaces and avoid contact with abrasive surfaces. Be sure to protect your items from scratches by wrapping the silver in a soft cloth. Storing the items in air tight containers will prevent tarnish from forming.

Rose Gold is luminous and warm metal that seems to glow on its own. Using a mixture of pure gold and copper, Rose Gold was popularized in the nineteenth century, although evidence of its existence can be found much earlier.

Shiana Vermeil Rose Gold is plated over either our .999 Shiana Fine Silver or .925 Sterling Silver items. Using a nickel-free process, the silver is plated with 1 micron of 18K gold for strength and then followed by 2 microns of 22K Rose Gold. This gives the gold a lasting antique look and feel. The 3 micron (micro meter) coating is guaranteed.

Our gems collection is procured privately and quantities are limited. SHIANA Designer Pam Thien holds a Graduate Gemology Degree with the Gemology Institute of America (GIA) which includes Pearl Grading, Diamond Grading, and Coloured Stones Grading and Identification. Her quest for unique gems takes her all over the world.
